President-Elect Donald Trump–Part 1 US Out Of The Paris Agreement

The election of Donald Trump has the environmental industry in a panic.  The money and the  one or two  trips each year to exotic places all funded by the US and others, could be severely curtailed.   The scientist, ever eager to produce study results that indicts man—the only way to get study money—, may no longer  be able to afford their lifestyle if the Government slush funds dry up.  And the forecasts of doom in the far-off future proudly produced by some computer, could be ignored and there goes the forecasters claim to fame.

Hillary Clinton Will Not Stop The UN Acting On The Bogus Theory Of Catastrophic Global Warming

We need to stop the UN and their IPCC from carrying out the Paris Accord.  The pact maybe unenforceable but a lot of damage will be done to the US economy and the rest of the world’s economy in its name.    The Chinese are lobbying against Donald Trump—where are those voices that say the Russians should not be poking their nose into the Presidential election.  Why are the Chinese lobbying?  Because they say we need to reduce our CO2 emissions.  This is the nation that President Obama negotiated a pact with where we reduce our emissions but the Chinese do not have to do that until 2030.  During which time we will be putting the brakes on our economy while they are rapidly expanding theirs.  If Trump ever had a target pact that the US  has been badly out foxed, this is it.    It will not be changed if, tomorrow Hilliary Clinton wins the Presidency, nor will the bad deal we got from the Paris Accord.

Oh yes,  the Chinese CO2 emissions are already the largest in the world at about twice ours.  When 2030 arrives the Chinese emissions should be three times those of the US.

UPDATE   From Watts  UP With That is a posting that elaborates my point about China and their plans for coal burning.  Read this   “China Announces a Massive 20% Increase in Coal – by 2020”.

EPA Says “No” To Logic—- Just Wants To Show Leadership?

It is hard to imagine that there is a more out of control unit of the Federal Government than the EPA. The EPA Administrator, Gina McCarthy seems impervious to logic. It has been repeatedly pointed out to her that the Clean Power Plan (shutting down numerous coal-based electrical generation facilities) will have no measurable effect on Global temperature. She does not disagree with the statement. But she says there isn’t any reason to measure it anyway. Then she shifts her defense saying that the important things is that the EPA is showing domestic leadership and that it will lead the US population to buy into the Paris agreement. No concern over loss of employment or the effect on the economy.

Two YouTube videos of McCarthy’s testimony before Congress have Congressman McKinley of WVA and Senator Daines of Montana relate the loss of jobs and the impact on the economy resulting from the Clean Power Plan are shown below:

I can cut the Administrator some slack because she is just doing what President Obama said he was going to do. And that was to kill the coal industry. However, she took the job to carry out Obama’s plan so it is hard to have much sympathy for her.

And especially when the EPA blew-out a shut in mine in Colorado and and caused a release of millions of gallons of water loaded with heavy metals in to a river that supplies water for the people downstream of the release. What did McCarthy do about the EPA people that caused that? Were they fired? Were they fined? No they were not. What do you think might have happen to a private company if they would have been responsible for the blowout?

If CO2 Emissions Are Not Rising, Why Is Atmospheric CO2 Rising At “Unprecedented” Rates?

The International Energy Agency (IEA) has announced that global carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions have not increased for two years running. They say the global economy has grown during this period and that it shows that economic growth and CO2 emissions have been decoupled. Further they are attributing this condition as likely due to renewable energy growth, and China having curbed its use of coal to improve the environment. They note that China has promised to stop increasing emission in 2030 but the IEA thinks we may be seeing the stoppage now.   Fat Chance.

You might think then that atmospheric CO2 must have flat-lined too. If you think that you are wrong.   Climatecentral.org posted “Unprecedented Spike in CO2 levels in 2015” and from that posting we get this:

” The annual growth rate of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere rose more in 2015 than scientists have ever seen in a single year, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration announced Thursday.

It was the fourth year in a row that carbon dioxide concentrations grew by more than 2 parts per million, with an annual growth rate of 3.05 parts per million in 2015. The spike comes in the same year that Earth reached an ominous global warming milestone — scientists last year measured the highest atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide ever recorded.”

But wait, but wait. If the emissions are not increasing how can the atmospheric CO2 be increasing at an “unprecedented rate” or even growing at all.

4 Major Warmers Change Their Mind And Now Back Building Nukes

Back when there was temporary shortage of natural gas, that fossil fuel was the favorite of warmers. When it became abundant, they were against it.   They just pretend to be even handed. Well what about nuclear energy? It doesn’t produce carbon dioxide (CO2) but they do not like it. My guess is that many of them are just following through on their objective of destroying capitalism.

However, a group of influential warmers now say they were wrong to oppose nuclear energy.

At the Paris COP21 in December 2015, a press conference was held where 4 noted warmers announced that they were going to back development of nuclear energy.

12 Reasons To Be A Skeptic

James Delingpole is a Brit that writes for Brietbart.com. He has a sharp mind that he uses to take the obvious and throw it back at the pretenders often with good humor. Somewhat like Mark Steyn. They are a formidable pair and I am glad they are on our side.

The Delingpole posting that I want to discuss was written before the COP21 Paris meeting of the massive group of hanger-ons that go to these conferences on stopping global warming. But, the points he makes in this posting “Twelve Reasons Why The Paris Climate Talks Are A Total Waste” are essentially timeless within the current discussion of the catastrophic man-made global warming theory.

I may summarize the discussion in some of the twelve reasons. So I do recommend that you link to his original posting to read the reasons in their entirety. Don’t ignore the links that are included in this listing.

1   There has been no ‘global warming’ since 1997.

So, of all the children round the world currently being taught in schools about the perils of man-made global warming, not a single one has lived through a period in which the planet was actually warming

Fortunately, The Paris Climate Talks Appear To Have Failed

The bluster emanating from the Paris climate talks challenges the Potemkin Villages as the biggest attempted cover-up of the real facts on the ground in history. The agreement produced only voluntary caps on CO2 emissions; only voluntary transfers (reparations really) of money from the 1st world to the 3rd world); and reporting of emissions and international oversight do not exist. Further more, neither China or India will cut back their expected increase in CO2 emissions as they plan to serve their citizens first.
The Paris climate leadership acknowledged that even if the emission cuts would take place as promised, their arbitrary goal of holding the global temperature rise under 2C would not be achieved. President Obama flew a 500+ army to Paris. All they accomplished was to spend our money and a lot of CO2 emisssions.

The President, however, will claim he must have the money to pay reparations to the 3rd world countries and laws enacted to shut-down our industry to reduce CO2 emission. The science is not settled. Why wreck our economy and put our people out of work when there has been no significant rise in global temperatures for almost 19 years and polar ice is increasing.

COP 21 “…make-or-break Paris conference on climate change”

Beginning 30 November through 11 December, the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC) will hold the 21st Conference of Parties (COP 21) in COP21imagesParis. As usual this one like the preceding annual COP meeting is being described as the last chance to save planet Earth from the ravages of carbon dioxide (CO2).

COP attendees from all over the world will attempt, once again, to agree on the reduction of the amount of CO2 emitted into the atmosphere and settle on compensation payments to the 3rd world countries that have emitted little CO2. Each of the 146 nations that emit 90% of the global CO2 emissions are being asked to submit the amount of CO2 emissions they will reduce by 2030 based away from the amount emitted in 2005 by that nation. They believe this is necessary to keep global temperature growth to two degrees Celsius.

The compensation side is contentious as those getting the compensation want more than those expected to provide it are willing to part with. For example, India says they will reduce their emissions by 33 to 35% but they need $2.5 trillion to accomplish that goal. Even China, the world’s largest emitter of CO2 is one of the nations expecting compensation.   What a deal—-they have recently achieved an agreement with President Obama that lets them continue increasing their emissions until 2030 at which time their emissions should be three times those of the US.

Of course the concept of emission reductions and compensation that the COP wishes to accomplish ignores the data that shows that this is probably not necessary.   CO2 is the life blood of the plant world. Without it there would be no plant life and that means of the end of humankind. Studies show that the increased CO2 in the atmosphere have had a beneficial effect on food production world-wide.   Further the CO2 effect on the global temperatures appears to be secondary to natural forces.  And fossil fuel use by the underpowered nations is a better answer to their needs than sending compensation to some dictator who will just pocket it and the people will receive no benefit.  Subsequent postings will enlarge on these observations.

President Obama Likes German Energy Plan That Results In Electrical Prices 2.5X U.S. Prices

President Obama and polemists like Tom Friedman of the New York Times, tout Germany’s green power program as a model to be admired.   Well, I guess so if you like very much higher electricity prices with only a little effect on CO2 ice_age_endingemissions. As readers of this blog know, CO2 emissions are not high on my worry list. Increased electricity prices are worrisome to me, but they don’t seem to trouble Obama and Friedman?

Chinese Bank Challenges The World Bank-Providing Funds To Build Electrical Power Plants

China has established a bank that competes with the World Bank.   One of the things that this Chinese bank will offer will be loans to third world countries that want to improve the lives of their people by providing 9686-Light-Bulb-Mascot-Cartoon-Character-With-Welcoming-Open-Arms-Poster-Art-Printthem with electricity. The World Bank has banned any loans to these same countries if the country’s means of producing electricity is through the use of coal.   The World Bank’s policies are dictated by the US, Japan and the European nations. They have decided that these countries will produce just too much CO2. This is a wrongheaded policy predicated upon the questionable theory of catastrophic man-made global warming.
