EPA employees do not want to cooperate with the Trump Administration.
“So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can; it’s just that it will bankrupt them, because they’re going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that’s being emitted,” Obama said during a 2008 interview with the San Francisco Chronicle’s editorial board. Democratic Presidential nominee Hillary Clinton also pledged that “We’re going to put a lot of coal miners and coal companies out of business.”
“This Labor Day, America has 83,000 fewer coal jobs and 400 coal mines than it did when Barack Obama was elected in 2008, showing that the president has followed through on his pledge to “bankrupt” the coal industry.”
The paragraphs above are from the dailycaller 5 September 2016 posting “Obama kept his promise-83,000 coal jobs lost and 400 mines shuttered.
Who are the cheerleaders wanting the coal business to fail? The EPA !! Who authored the Clean Power ACT? The EPA !!
The SNL.com posting of 2 March 2017 titled “EPA whistleblower: We will resist” tells us the EPA employees should not be laid off nor should anyone dispose of their efforts—ever. Am I happy that some people in the EPA will lose their jobs. NO. Nor am I happy that coal miners have lost jobs.
The total EPA staff in 2016 was 15,376. If the EPA remains, many of them will stay on. If the agency is eliminated, many will transfer to the Energy Dept, let’s say, to carry on the work of keeping our air and water, for example, clean.
Unfortunately, this Nation continues to increase government jobs all the while losing private sector jobs. Last I heard there were 26,000,000 government jobs in the US. Many Government employees must now believe that they are so important that they must not be replaced even if the work they are doing is no longer needed or opposite the direction the people that pay their salaries want the Nation to go. They need to grow up.
I spent my entire professional career in the private sector. When a specific business in our company was no longer competitive, that business was shut down and many of the people associated with it, lost their jobs. Even if at one time the people wanted the output from that specific business. But if they no longer want it, the business must be dropped before its losses threaten the existence of the remained of the company. That goes for big or small businesses. The EPA is producing some products that the people of this country no longer want.
The company that I worked for was predominately a technically focused business. Many, Many, engineers and scientist. Nobel Prize winners too. Some of the greatest inventions ever came for the company. Many engineers and scientist lost their jobs— (not the Nobelist of course) and they were very talented and dedicated employees. The loss of dedicated and talented employees should not be confined to the Private sector only. If you think you can remain an employee and plan to sabotage the leaders plans, you will fail.
Yes, I know some of the coal plant jobs were lost because natural gas is currently cheaper than coal. But the rate payers will have to pay for the new investment needed to keep their lights on when all the coal plants are shutdown. More coal jobs have been lost because of the EPA regulations. Further there are untold jobs that have been and are being lost due to the regulation happy EPA. A small list of why the EPA is out of control and why they need to be stopped can be view by clicking here and here and here and here and here and here.
